Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA)

This test is used to analyze rubber and polymeric systems using time, temperature, frequency and stress to obtain viscous and elastic properties of test specimens.

Test Details

DMA collects data pertaining to the loss modulus and the storage modulus of a polymer sample, and from this analysis many characteristics can be observed and measured such as filler effect, glass transition, stress relaxation and cure behavior.  DMA is used heavily in the tire industry as a predictor of how a tire will perform on the road in conditions such as snow, ice, and rain.
