ACE Laboratories Hires Eric Thomas as Senior Technical Consultant

Ravenna OH, May 8, 2018 – ACE Laboratories is pleased to announce the hiring of Thomas as senior technical consultant. Thomas’ impressive career is long and varied in the rubber industry and includes lead roles at DuPont in the development of high performance elastomers. In his new role at ACE, he will be responsible for providing greater returns to clients and customers and to help the ACE team grow their brand in testing and consulting services to the rubber industry. Erick Sharp, president and CEO of ACE Laboratories, made the announcement.

“Eric is a highly respected and accomplished professional in the rubber industry,” said Erick Sharp. “We are very excited to have him on our team.”

Thomas’ career includes work as Technical Director for Industrial Electronic Rubber Co., a privately held manufacturer of precision rubber products, where he served in several technical assignments including work with the Fluorocarbon’s IER Division at the time of acquisition in 1985. He then worked to provide technical support and development for DuPont’s Akron Lab (Stow, OH) in 1987 for Viton® fluoroelastomer and other portfolio elastomers to OEM’s, tier suppliers and sealing product manufacturers serving the automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway and aerospace/aircraft markets. His vast experience also includes work in advanced manufacturing for Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer parts serving the electronics, chemical processing, energy, pharmaceutical and aerospace/aircraft markets.

Eric earned his Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. He is a member of SAE International and American Chemical Society’s Rubber Division, and has been active in SAE AMS CE, a technical committee supporting aerospace standards development during the past 30 years. He holds two patents and has authored fifteen peer reviewed technical papers and trade journal publications. He is the recipient of the 2003 SAE Manly Memorial Award – recognition by SAE for the best technical paper related to the theory or practice in the design, construction, or research of aerospace engines, or their parts, components or accessories.
